I’ll probably stick this on my office door — everyone is asking for things ASAP. The Dr. Seuss quotation is from Horton Hears a Who, and I like that somehow the elephant I drew seems to be moving swiftly toward whatever it is in front of her.
This is my first non-embarrassing attempt at bringing animate objects into etegami. I tried drawing a baby for a “welcome baby” card, but the results were too frightening to send to a new mom. I went with a metaphor instead, depicting a seashell.
The paper I used is from Utrecht’s Art Supply in DC. It is thin washi paper intended for ink-block printing, and comes in large sheet. I cut it up into postcard size pieces and glued them to plain postcards. The quality of this paper I would deem as medium to low nijimi. It has some bleed, but not as much as you see with some paper.
