A couple attempts to paint my blooming Easter lilies — I think that’s what they are, at least. Very fragrant when they bloom. Their buds have been closed for the last week, and just a few flowers burst through recently. The bottom etegami shows a bud, with a flower open in the background.
I think I like the latter one more — I was lighter with the sumi in painting some of the contours of the bud, so it looks a little less “striped.”
The words on both say “I look forward to meeting you soon.” (まもなく会うことを心待ち; mamonaku au koto wo kokoromachi). I like the word “kokoromachi” — it literally means “heart waits.”
