Last month I took this photo, at 5:01pm, at the corner of 5th St and T St, NW, in my neighborhood in DC, LeDroit Park. I finally worked on a few watercolors of it, using sumi for the trees and buildings, and painting the background as vividly as possible.

I love these. Winter sky in two moods over those severe buildings and trees. Stark. Cold. But not grim or threatening. I love them.
